ANNUAL REPORT OF 2016-17

Nyamati, Convener of SRC,  other dignitaries on the dais, esteemed Colleagues, Non Teaching Staff, Heads of various institutions, parents, invitees, well-wishers, Media Persons and my dear students.  It is my privilege to present before you a brief report of our college for the academic year 2016-17.  


ABOUT COLLEGE

KITTEL ARTS COLLEGE was born on July, 1st 1988 as a result of the bifurcation of the erstwhile Kittel College into Kittel Arts College and Kittel Science College. The College is managed by Karnataka Northern Diocese, Church of South India, Basel Mission Higher Education Centre, Dharwad and Affiliated to Karnatak University, Dharwad. Bishop Rt.Rev. R. J. Niranjan is the President of the BMHEC. The Basel Mission Higher Education Centre is registered under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 at assistant Charity Commissioner’s Office at Belguam as a Trust E-39(DWD).The institution is named after the celebrated Kannada Savant and lexicographer Rev.Dr.Ferdinand Kittel (1832-1903), who came to India as a missionary in 1853, deputed by Basel Mission, Germany. He soon gained mastery over the South Indian languages and compiled the voluminous and important Kannada-Kannada-English dictionary (1894).His life and teaching set an example to the young students to emulate. The College is situated on the State Highway 73 erstwhile known as Poona-Bangalore National Highway No-04 and is within walking distance from any part of the city and accessible to all the necessary facilities. The institution aims at imparting a sound learning and liberal education. It provides instruction in A stream at the degree level leading to BA Degree. As suggested by the NAAC Peer Team during 2007 cycle-I DRAFT REPORT ON REASSESSMENT and ACCREDITATION, in 2008 Master degree Programme was introduced in Kannada literature. The College aims at Scholarship, Fellowship and Leadership. Its cardinal desire is to develop an all round personality of the young people with spirit of dedication for service. Hence our motto is   “NOT TO BE SERVED; BUT TO SERVE”.    

STAFF OF THE COLLEGE:

The quality of an educational institution is measured in terms of the quality staff members who slice the destiny of the students. In our college 14 Permanent teaching staff, 10 Part-time teaching staff and 05 administrative staff always work for the welfare of the institution.10 teaching faculty earned Ph.D. Degree in their respective subject.

STUDENTS

 The present strength stands at 514. The number of boys is 269 as against 245 girls.

RESULT

The quality of any educational institution is measured mainly by the academic excellence of the students. Our college has been striving hard to maintain better academic standards throughout the academic year. For the academic year 2015-16 over all passing percentage is 98%. We had 170 Distinctions, 40 First Class. Passing percentage of Male Students 96.34% and  Female Students 97%, Miss Savita N Hubballi  got the 8th Rank in BA final Examination during the Year 2015-16 from  Karnatak University,  Dharwad, and Miss Tanuja Dombar got Gold Medal and 1st  Rank in Optional English from Karnatak University Dharwad.       


INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (IQAC):

        The internal quality assurance Cell was constituted under the Chairmanship of the Principal in 01st July 2009 . Since then to till date all the activities of the college are conducted under the IQAC. Faculty training programmes, workshops, seminars, programmes for cultivating students’ research potentiality, infrastructural development of the college; organizing seminars, workshops etc. are regular features of the IQAC. All the activities of various departments, societies, NSS and NCC are conducted under the banner of IQAC.

Special programme conducted by  IQAC and SRC of the College during the year for promoting quality culture.

ؠØ Induction Programme

The Induction Programme was conducted on 08th Oct, 2016 for BA I semester students. Rev.S. S. Sakkari was invited as the Chief Guest for the inauguration and Dr.H.B.Neelgund, Principal Kittel Arts College presided. The Induction programme is conducted every year for the fresher’s in order to acquaint them with the various facilities available in the college. The Government rules and regulations governing the course, the norms of the Karnataka University, and the code of conduct expected from the students etc.

            The goal of the programme is to introduce the fresher’s not only to the college but also develop a rapport among themselves. Therefore, it works as a bridge, as most of the students hail from a rural background and should become adapted to the new environment. Moreover, as they come from the pre-university course this programme works as an important mode of accommodating the students to the graduate course.

“A SPECIAL CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMME” INITIATIVE BY IQAC ON 10/02/2017

 The cultural exchange Programme is a unique element of the college is managed by the Basel Mission Higher Education Centre, cultural visits to and from Germany are common feature. Dating back to the pre-independent era, when Rev. Ferdinand Kittel a German Missionary came to Karnataka, studied and published the Kannada English dictionary. Along with him  numerous German Missionaries came to study India who took keen interest in Indian Languages and life structure. They also made contributions to south Indian literature. Not only this they have been the initiators of educational institutions in South India.

A Special Cultural Exchange Programme conducted by IQAC on 190/02/2017 German Delegates Inculcated Cultural Potentialities of Our Students through delivering lecture and discussion. Their discussion enhanced the student’s sense of pride and involvement in this great heritage.

 



      

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME ON PHOTOGRAPHY

    An orientation programme in Photography was conducted on 2nd Feb, 2017. Retired Prof C.S.Patil, the resource person, Department of Journalism, Karnataka University,Dharwad. Principal Dr.H.B.Neelgund presided. 90 students and faculty of our college were benefited by this programme. Prof. C.S.Patil spoke on history and scope of photography in India.

    The college has photography society. This society is made especially to sensitize the students regarding the employment opportunity in this field. As photography is used in many fields, nowadays students need to be aware of it not only as a hobby but also as a profession.

      Prof. C. S. Patil highlighted on the history and scope, thereby enlightening the students and staff about the breadth and scope of photograph.

SCREENING OF PRESCRIBED TEXT RELATED FILMS BY DEPARTMENT OF KANNADA AND ENGLISH

                ‘Nanu Kond Hudugi’ was screened on 17-09-2016 by the department of Kannada. This helped the BA I semester students to understand the text better .On 23 -02-2017 a film show was organised in collaboration with Akshara society where in national award film ‘Hejjegalu’ was screened. The students also interacted with film team.

       The English department screened the Kannada movie ‘Choman Dudi’ which was based on renowned Kannada author Channaveerkanavi’s novel ‘Chomas Drum’ for the V semester basic English students on 24-09-2016.


  SIGNIFICANT CREATIVE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE STUDENTS IN THE FORM OF PUBLISHING  CREATIVE BOOK ENTITLED DR. MASTHI VENKATESH IYENGAR


The students of the department of Kannada have written scholarly articles on Dr.Masti Venkatesh  Iyengar and the edition was published by the college.

REV. FERDINAND KITTEL MEMORIAL INTERCOLLEGIATE DEBATE COMPETITION CONDUCTED TO ENHANCE RESEARCH ATTITUDE OF THE STUDENTS THROUGH CO CURRICULAR  ACTIVITIES




      Rev. Kittel Memorial Intercollegiate debate competition was conducted on 8-02-2017 in the college. Students from different colleges are participated. Our students were motivated to participate in such intercollegiate competitions. The skills of elocution and debate developed along with strong research mentality.

ONE DAY WORKSHOP

    Conducted One day special workshop entitled “Digital Payments”. And “Income Tax and Tax Saving methods and TechniquesThe objective of the workshop was to enrich the faculty with Knowledge and to empower the staff in imparting the right skills and attitudes to build a successful career and create awareness of integrated course.

STUDENTS’ REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL

T       The Student Representative Council formed for the year 2016-17. Convener Dr. Suresh Nyamati, Assistant Professor of Economics nominated as the convener of the SRC for the year 2016-17 along with Special Secretary Kum. Anusha Holalagundi,  Special Joint Secretary Kum. Fatima B. Mannasaheb, and  two student representatives from each Class and  Association.        Students’ Council for the academic year 2016-17 was inaugurated on 27 August 2016. On the occasion Student representatives and convener of various Societies took the oath.The Council conducted the following programmes for the year 2016-17. 


                              TEACHERS DAY WAS CELEBRATED UNDER THE SRC 

  •       Teacher’s day is a special day for the appreciation of teachers, and may include celebrations to honor them for their special contributions. On 5th September is celebrated as Teacher’s day as a mark of tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society. Students of our college Celebrated teachers day on 5th September 2016 in the college. All the students participated and gave the respect to the entire teacher by performing the different activates.
  •      Celebration of Christmas in the college on 23rd December 2016. Rev. Derick Christopher, In-charge Presbyter of Hebich Memorial Church, Dharwad inaugurated the festival.
  •     Fun week conducted in the college from 1-04-2017 to 6-04-2017. All the Students of our college day wise grandly celebrated the Fun week. Group Day, Fancy Day, Black and White Day, Professional Day, Traditional Day were celebrated during the  fun week.

  •     Inauguration of “Coaching Classes in Kannada” to the students of our college, who were appearing for the competitive exam, was conducted on 25-1-2017. Classes were conducted every Saturday for 3 months
  •      Audio Visual presentation to 1ST Sem students was organized based on the text prescribed i.e. Nanu Konda Hudigi on 17th September 2016.
  •      One day workshop organized in the Department with the collaboration of Outreach society and Varamagiri Social Service Society and displaced HandiCraft Arts Material and explained about the importance of Arts to the students and staff on 19th October 2016.
  •       On 23rd February 2017 a film show was organized in collaboration with “Avishkar Film Society”, where in National Award winning film “HEJJEGALU” was screened and interaction with Film team was also organized.



  • On 12th April 2017 A Exhibitation programme was hosted by the department in the main Library hall.  Wall magazine was put up along with brief write up of Kannada Authors was exhibited.

    DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

    The department of English commenced its activities with bridge courses for the respective semesters.  The movie “Chomana Dudi” was screened as the V Semester Basic English Students study the text “Choma’s Drum”



  •      Also a Special lecture on “The Importance of Communication Skills in English and the globalized Job Market was arranged for optional and Basic English Students.  Dr. G. K. Badiger, Associate Professor of the Government first Grade College, Hubballi delivered the lecture. 
     DEPARTMENT OF HINDI

    HINDI department conducts various competitions to department students like essay competitions speech, self composed poetry recitation Quiz etc., on 5th October 2016.  ICT classes were conducted for dept. student’s dept. Celebrated Hindi days and special lecture programme on 22nd September 2016.  Chief Guest and Resource Person was Smt. Chitra Naik Rtd. Professor DBHPS, Dharwad.  Prizes were distributed to last year highest scorer and text Books were given to poor and meritorious students.  


    Kumari Pragati Suryavanshi won III prize in Intercollegiate Hindi speech completion which was held at DBHPS Dharwad. 

    Staff of Hindi Dept. Attended and presented Research papers in various National and International Seminars and Updated Them. 


    DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

    Along with the regular classes, seminars group discussions were also conducted in the department.

    On 28th August 2016 a special seminar was conducted for the 5th semester students on the topic “Goods and Service Tax in India”.   Students collected information from various sources and presented the seminar under the guidance of faculty members.

    On 26th September 2016, 5th semester students were taken to university of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad to visit Krushi Mela.  The visit aimed at providing first hand information to the students about recent developments in Indian Agriculture.  Students were divided into five groups and were assigned five different topics.  On which they were asked to collect information and submit the same to the department in the form of project work reports.  These reports are published under the banner of our own Kittel Publication.



     On 19th January 2017 students of the department were taken to “West Coast Paper Mills” Dandeli for a field visit.  Students gained the knowledge of working of a large scale industry through interaction and observation.


    Department conducted various competitions for the students under the banner “Arthamanthana” 2017.  Quiz, Debet, Data-Analysis and essay competitions were conducted. 


                This year use had the proud privilege of conducting inter collegiate Economics competitions for Hubballi-Dharwad city colleges.  Students from different colleges came to our college on took part in various competitions Dr. P.M. Honakeri was the Chief Guest for the Inaugural function, and Dr. S.T. Bagalkoti was the chief guest for valedictory function.  Both the guests were from the department of Economics Karnatak University, Dharwad.  Shri Joseph Hoolgeri and Shri Sidram Lectures from arrived as Judges for the competitions.  These competitions were conducted on 20th February 2017.



    Live telecast of the central Budget was arranged in collaboration with Library and information center on 1st February 2017.  And an analysis of the central budget was immediately followed.  Students were asked to collect various newspapers and magazines to study the opinions of various leaders and economists these opinions were discussed in the class.

    Valedictory function of activities of the department was conducted on 20th April 2017.  All the activities were conducted with the cooperation of principal. 

    DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY          

  • The Department of History is conducted a special lecture on “Opportunities In Tourism Industry” on 7th March 2017 at 10.30 Am in the prayer hall. Dr Jagdish. K, Chairman Dept of MTA, Karnatak College Dharwad, addressed the gathering as a resource person.                           

  • The Department organized a historical study tour to Hyderabad, Golconda, and surrounding places along with 23 students from 7th February to 9th February 2017 to study about historical Monuments of Golkonda and tourism industry.


                The department of history conducted a study tour to Sirsi, Banawasi, Magod Falls, Sahasralinga and Tibetian Colony on 17th March 2017. Along with 64 students and 2 honorary Guest Faculty.



     DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

        The Department of Education conducted Number of curricular, co-curricular and -Extra co-curricular activities during the year 2016-2017. Bridge Course, Student Seminars, Group Discussion Tutorial class, Diagnostic Test and Remedial Instruction, Subject related Quiz Competition  are regular features of the department. Apart from these,

DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY  

B.A I, III and V Semester classes of 2016-17 were started on 1/7/2016 during this academic year 77 students are studying in our department. On 27/9/2016 students of B.A I, III and V semester had visited to the Agricultural University on the occasion of “Krishimela”in order to gain the knowledge about different fields of agriculture like Horticulture, Sericulture, Floriculture, Poultry farming, Organic farming and so on.

On 28/9/2016 we have visited Dharwad Regional Science Centre with the B A I semester students. Students were come to know the different aspects of science and get an idea about the world of science by watching 3D picture.

Annual practical examinations were conducted from 6/11/2016 to 9/11/2016 B A II, IV and VI semester class were started on 2/1/2017

On 20/2/2017 we have visited along with B A VI semester to the Morab village concerned to the field work on MNREGA. On 22/3/2017 on the occasion of World water day along with Karnataka State Science Council ,we were organized special lecture programme on Water and its related jobs. 

             ACTIVITIES REPORT OF SOCIETIES

         ECO CLUB

             This was the Inaugural year of Eco Club in our college.  The main aim of establishing eco club in our college was to create awareness among students and the society regarding various issues of Environment Protection.  This year activities of Eco Club began with selection of secretaries.  Miss Aishwarya Pattihal was selected as secretary and Miss Renuka Yalamali was selected as Joint Secretary.    



  Inauguration function of Eco Club was held on 06th October 2016 in a very unique way.  The function was organized in the college garden where in oath taking ceremony to preserve nature was conducted.  All the students and teaching and non teaching staff members took the oath.  On the same day trees were planted in the garden.  On 8th October 2016 essay competitions were organized for our college students on the topic “Role of Students in Environment Protection” 37 Students participated in the competition.

A lush green lawn in front of the main building of our college was established by the Eco Club.  It has added beauty to the college campus.  Along with this plants will be placed in pots in various nukes and corners of the college.  Eco Club also took up the responsibility of maintaining the greenery in the garden. 


A Selfie Photograph competition was organized for the students on the theme “Nature and Me” This was conducted with a view to bring students more close to the Nature.  Along with the photographs. Students were also asked to write appropriate slogans for the photographs.  There was an overwhelming response by the students. 

                        Sincere efforts were made by the Eco Club to spread the environment protection awareness among the students and also the society.  We thank our principal and members of Eco Club and other Staff Members for their Cooperate.

                                                      FINE ARTS SOCIETY

The Fine Arts Society organized a “Talant Hunt” programme on 23rd and 24th September 2016 for the selection of talented students to participate in the youth Festival and Inter-Collegiate Competitions.

Prati Suryavanshi  secured the first place in western Pragati Suryavanshi was deputed to participate in the Inter-University south Zonal Youth festival from 16th to 20th December 2016 held at Bangalore University Bengalore and secured a silver medal  Mega Yuva 2017 Organized by Vidyniketan Youth centre Dharwad on 28th and 29th January 2017.  Ten students were deputed to participateInter collegeate Clutural Festival Sanskrutika Habba 2017 on 4th and 5th March 2017 at G. H. College Haveri. The society organized Fun weak from 1st April to 6th April 2017 in collaboration with student’s council.

GENDER SENSITIVITY AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL 2016-17

THE Gender Sensitivity and women empowerment cell has organized various activities through the academic year.  They are as follows

  1. Competitions such as Rangoli and Mehendi were conducted on 23rd September 2016.
  2. The students were deputed to participate in the workshops on women empowerment. i. one day workshop with the title “Be Bold For Change” organized by Karnataka Arts College Dharwad on 9th February 2017.  ii). One day state level workshop on “Educate women Build the national on 25th March 2017 at Shri Mrutunjaya College of Arts and Commerce Dharwad
  3. International women’s Day was celebrated on 23rd March 2017.  A Special talk was organized on the topic “Challenges for women in the 21st Century” Prof. Gayatri Huddar Delivered the Lecture.

DEBATE SOCIETY 

 The Debate Society aims at bringing out the hidden talents of the students and encourages them to participate in various Literature and cultural competitions. During the Academic year 2016-17, many activities were conducted in the Debate Society under the guidance of Principal and Convener of Dr.Raju.G. The student secretaries’ are Kum. Manjumaitri Ballary and Kum. Renuka Hanji.  Elocution, Debate, Quiz competitions are regular features of the society.

  2. Conducted Debate competition for students on 27th September 2016.
  3. Inter-collegiate Debate competition was conducted on 8-2-2017 in the workship Hall. The students of various college participated in this competition.  Shri Prakash Durgadmath Manager of Exide Life Insurance Hubli Inaugurated the competition.  Principal Dr. H. B. Neelgund presided over the function.  The following students bagged the prizes.

  8. Students SunmilKumar and Chandraprabha Shetty participated in the Inter Collegiate Debate Competition held at KNNVS Arts and Science College Kitturu.

LITERATURE SOCIETY

The main Aim of the Society to give expressions to literary talents and opportunities to the students.   Society has organized the following competitions for students

Ø  Conducted “Essay Writing and Poetry Writing’ Competitions entitled 1.”Mahadayi Kalasa Banduri Plan and 2.Solutions for Farmers Suicide on 28th September 2016 for Students. The Competition was conducted in English, Kannada, Hindi and Urdu Language.

Ø  Conducted poetry reading competition entitled “Nature and Mother land2015 for Students.

Ø  In association with Avishkar Film Society and Kannada Department on 12th February 2017 Screening and Dialogue Programme of International Award winnig by Film “Beru” was organized. All the students of the college were benefitted the programme.


OUTREACH SOCIETY

  1. ON 21ST October 2016 Outreach society and Kannada department jointly organized a programme and visited the Equip India Rehabitation Centre and Interact with the old people who are living in the Rehabatation centre.


    2. On 21st October 2016 programme organized in Hoohalli Kurubagatti.  The students interact with the farmer regarding the methods of cultivation of flowers crops, Market facilities, cost of cultivation, and other related information from the farmers and prepared the brief reports towards flowers crops and religed the documents on 12th April 2017 in the college.

 “Sound body gives Sound Mind”

          For primitive man physical fitness was a matter of survival and it is not so to the modern man. In 360 A.D. Plato said lack of physical activity destroys the good condition of every human being while movement and methodological physical exercise saves it and preserves it.

            Walk for Good Health (Trekking) Program was organized on 26-10-2016 to all the students near someshwara lake. Students actively participated in the program by playing number of minor games and walk through up and down hill and huge bushes for searching things and game messages without any fatigue students covered 10 KM of rough distance.


            Department of Physical Education of our college is one of the department which aims towards development of whole some personality of the students. So we conducted number of activities which bring physical fitness good health and mental fitness.

            On 01-07-2016 we had felicitation program of our past student Mr. Rajesh M Uppar (2008-09 to 2010-11) who represented India in Basketball tournament in order to encourage present students. 




            On 12-07-2017 we organized Olympic 2016 program was organized by department of physical education Mr. S. S. Shinde Rtd sports officer was given clear idea about Olympic and its origin and Indian participation at Olympic in order to encourage students in participation.

 


Karnatak University Level Tournament

            Our college students participated in Karnatak University Blue selection and Inter- collegiate Kabbadi and volleyball matches at Good News and Government First Grade College, Kalaghatagi.

Inter Class Tournament

             We conducted inter-class Volleyball, Kabaddi and Cricket matches for students where students enjoyed and developed some skill and game spirit.



 Annual Sports Meet 2016-2017

            On 17-01-2017 our college organized Annual sports meet at R N Shetty Stadium. Meet was very colour full and students enjoyed the synthetic track.


Health Awareness and Health Checkup

A Special Health Awareness and Health Checkup Programee were conducted in the Worship Hall. Dr Umesh Hallikeri Doctor,Dharwad Diagnosed the Students health and gave  suitable Suggestions and Treatment. All the Students of our college are benefitted by the programme  .

DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARY & INFORMATION CENTRE ANNUAL     REPORTS - 2016-17

          The college library is a precious storehouse of rare volumes.  The “ Kittel  Bandar ”  which is a collection of the literary works of Rev. Ferdinand Kittel is the most erudite part of the library.

               Books purchased in the library under fallowing grants for the year 2016-2017 :

           College section has 197 books worth Rs. 26,912/-. The total number of 197 books has been added to the library this year.

         The total number of books in the library is 28,768.  Competitive examination (KAS and IAS) books are also included.  The library is digitalized and is equipped with the appropriate multilingual software with Bar code technology to provide fast and efficient services to users.

Besides, the library procures 20 periodicals, 11 journals out of which 04 are international journals.  The library department is subscribed to INFLIBNET  (N-List) in which 31,35,000

e-books and 6,000 e-journals are made available.

LCD TV facility is also available, this is used to project informative programs to the students, this is the best practices of the library.           

  • Offline e-resources service is providing to the users through CALIBRE E-BOOKS MANAGEMENT. 
  • Audio-Visual library facility is also available to the students.
  • Internet service and e-browsing facility is provided to the students and staff at free of cost.
  • The smart card technology has been adopted which facilitates fast and efficient service to students and faculty.

5. The department was organized workshop on Opportunities in Government Jobs and preparation for Competitive Examinations,       Mr. Anand Karjagi ,Mr. Gururaj Panchalar and Mr. Shabazahmed  delivered lecture on related topic. 

CAREER PORTAL WING

i. A Special face to face interaction programme entitled “How to face the competitive Exams” conducted on 11-8 -2016 in the programme Hall.Prof. Parshwanath, Director of PACE Interacted with students. All the students benefited from the programme.

ii. On 20-7-2016, in collaboration with Karnataka Vidyavardhak Sangh, the library department and Career Portal wing jointly organized a program on “Job opportunities for the youth through competitive examinations”.

 Our college has a strong parent Teachers Association our PTA members are very helpful and giving good suggestion and prizes to students and involve them self to development of our college and quality education.

Our PTA office bears and members participated and gave valuable suggestions at post NAAC get to gather function on 20th July 2016.  Often they visit our college and interact with principal and staff about over all development of the college.

NSS SPECIAL ANNUAL CAMP REPORT - 2016-17, 

The NSS Programme officer Dr. S. B. Nyamati, NSS Secretaries, and Volunteers met President, Members, PDO of Gram Panchayath, Mugad, Youth Leaders, Self Help Group Leaders, Senior Leaders and discussed about conducting the special annual camp in Mugad two time i.e. on 15th January 2017 and 19th February 2017. We discussed about the date of the special camp, problems of the village including Sanitation, Health, Drinking Water, Toilet facilities, etc., we collected the information and suggestion from the president, members and leaders of the village. We visited all streets of the village and watched the real problems.

Later we prepared the action plan for the special annual camp. We called NSS advisory Board Meeting with the Principal in the Principal Chamber and discussed the plan. We discussed about special Lecture, Resource Persons, and the Guests of the Inaugural and Valedictory function of the camp. We took the approval of the advisory committee regarding the plan of the camp.

Kittel Arts College, Dharwad, NSS Special Annual Camp was organised in Mugad Village Dharwad Tq.  from 15th March 2017 to 21st March 2017. Shri Chandranth Bellad Ex MLA Dharwad inaugurated the camp, he spoke to NSS Volunteers and villagers of Mugad about the Cleanness, Importance of Drinking water, Sanitation, Environment. He also requested the people to protect environment, he says that the environment will protect you in the future. Now all countries are facing the serious environmental problems. For the protection of environment there is need to cultivate  plants in the village. Dr. V. B. Annigeri Chief Guest of the function spoke about the village plan for the development of villages. Every village must prepare the micro plan for its development. Prof. S. J. Kuri president of the function spoke about role of NSS volunteers in the rebuilding the unity, integrity among the people of Mugad. And also said about the aims and objectives of NSS, he remembers the contribution of Dr. Dilshad to NSS in India.

SHRAMADHANA ACTIVITEIS DURING THE SPECIAL ANNUAL SPEICAL CAMP  AT MUGAD VILLAGE 


 

               From 16th March 2017 to 21 March 2017 Shramadan Programme was conducted in the Mugad Village. In the Shramadhan all NSS Volunteers and NSS Officer Dr. S. B. Nyamati himself participated and cleaned all sewages of Mugad in all streets without any hesitation. This is the one of the best service rendered   by our NSS volunteers. According to villagers, President, Panchayath Development Officer Total value of the service created by the volunteers about Rs. 1,50,000/- towards cleaning of sewages only during the camp. During the shramadan we created awareness among the people of Mugad regarding importance of cleanliness, If there is no cleanliness it produces mosquitoes. The Mosquitoes are responsible for number of diseases and not give you the rest. And we created awareness on water.  India is the country of villages,   all villages and cities are facing the baggiest water problem. The total stock of water is diminishing due to lack rainfall and over use of underground water for different purposes. We have explained the people about the importance of water, save water, recharging of underground water by rain water harvesting. And also we created the awareness on Health, Education, Forest, Environment, etc. On 20th March 2017 some of Our NSS Volunteers cleaned the total school campus. They made beatification of school campus by clearing total school campus. The swamadana service created by our NSS volunteers during the camp,  Zilla Panchayath Dharwad has given the Appreciation Letter to our college NSS Unit for their best performance during the camp.  It is one of the best achievements of our NSS Unit.









  

SPECIAL LECTURE SERIES ORGANISED DURING THE SPEICAL ANNUAL CAMP AT MUGA

ON  16th March 2017 organized two Lecture                                                                          

                 Shri L.S. Ambali, District Health Education Officer spoks on Effect of Mosquitoes on Health. Shri Ambali explained about different types of Mosquitoes, different type of diseases created by Mosquitoes.  He also gave some of the tips how to protect the health from Mosquitoes. 

          Dr. Nayana Tara Naik, Associate Professor of CMDR, Dharwad gave the special lecture on problems of Tobacco Consumption. Madam spoke about the effects and impact of tobacco Consumption on health of the people. She says how tobacco is dangerous to human being and types of cancer created by tobacco in the human body. Madam presented the lecture by showing the pamphlets, pictures of various cancer disease Images. Both the lecture given by both resource persons were very effective. The people and NSS volunteers aware problems of tobacco and mosquitoes.

On 17th March 2017 organized two Lecture          

                 Shri Bhimappa N.M. Assistant Planning officer of Zilla Panchayath  Dharwad gave the lecture on sanitation and government programmes towards sanitation. Shri Bhimappa explained about the importance of cleanness, Importance of the use of Toilet, the government scheme towards construction of Toilets. He requested the people maintain the cleanliness, created by the NSS volunteers in the villages; do not put any things on the sewages. He says that free flowing of used water in the sewages is the best solution for good health. 

           Dr. Arun Kumar Kulkarni, Associate Professor of CMDR Dharwad talks on Use of Natural Resources. Dr. Kulkarni says that there are plenty of unused Natural resources available in the villages. The proper uses the unused natural resources are the best solution for villages’ development. He explained the types of resources, how to use them for different purposes.

On 19th March 2017 organized two lecture

                 Shri Dharmappa G.K. District Co-ordinator Dharmastala Rural Development Institution Dharwad spokes on the subject “Women Empowerment and Role of Self Help Groups in Rural Development”. Shri Dharmappa says the rural development depends on empowerment of all sections of the people in the village. All people must participate in any activities and work hard to generate income is the key for development of Individual. Women must organise the Self help groups and undertake any economic activities.

                 Dr. Prabhakar Jai, Assistant Professor CMDR Dharwad spokes on various problems faced by the backwards communities in the villages.  He says that Education is the weapon to solve all problems. There is more exploitation of backward communities, Education and Economic Empowerment is the solution. There are many Government schemes for education and self employments. He suggest proper use the Government facilities for development.

On 20th March 2017 organized two Lecture              

                 Shri N. Muniraju, Joint Director of Social Welfare Department Dharwad spokes on Climatic Changes,  its effects on the present and the future life. The Muniraju Says that we people are the responsible for climatic change. There is need people participation to recreate good environment. Environment problems are the main cause for climate change. The climatic Changes are the main cause for lack of rainfall.

                 Shri M.M. Khazi, Assistant Director, Agriculture Department talks on the Management of Sail and Crops. He says that over use of soil for cultivation and other reasons the fertility of soil is diminishing. There is need to use modern methods to improve the fertilities of the soil. And also protection and management of crops is also impotent for development of agriculture. Former must takes necessary steps in time for the protection of crops from diseases. 

 

            During the 7 day camp all NSS volunteers’ actively participated in all Activates. They organised NSS Flag Hosting programme at 6 a.m. in every morning. They invited Guest for the Flag Hosting Daily.  After the Flag hosting they participated and performed Yoga. Dr. H. B. Neelgund, Principal of Kittel Arts College, Dharwad, he was leads the Yoga activities from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. in the morning. During all day night 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. NSS volunteers performed cultural activities including Songs, Mime, Skits, Dance, One Act Play etc, at 10.30 PM all volunteers participated in Satsanga Activities on different topics.

            0n 21st March 2017 we organised valedictory Function of the camp.  Smt. Snehal R. IAS, CEO, Zilla Panchayath Dharwad was the Chief Guest. She spoke on two aspects, one is students related and on the other farmer related. She says that positive participation in all work is the key for development. She says once you think positively, that give you strength to do something.  To the students she says goal setting is important for achievements of something. She asks them to prepare of definite goal for the achievement, the goal must have specific objectives, hard work is necessary for the achievements, and once again she says all the best. To the people she says; maintain cleanness in the villages is the best solution for the development. She visited the some of the streets and appreciated the services done by the NSS Officer and Volunteers and she Felicitate to NSS Unit by issuing the Appreciation Letter.            Dr. M.D. Okkund, Principal of Government First Grade College Alnavar, Guest of honour, spoke on the occasion. He says that there is more discrimination among the rural people on the basis of caste. According to Constitution we all are equal. But there is exploitation and discrimination. The people should think about we are human beings, we have same blood. Dr. H. B. Neelgund also spoke on the occasion as a president of the function. Shri Basavaraj Kalakeri, Shri S. S. Phirjade also appreciated the service done by the NSS volunteers. Some of the villagers also talk the NSS service.  Many Leaders spokes in favour of volunteers. Dr. S. B. Nyamati given the brief reports of the Camp and also says Vote of thanks to all. Prof. Daniel Praveen Kumar, Dr. C.P. Manohar. Dr. V. I. Shaikh. Smt. Bhavan Belur ZP member Shri Namadeve Bhovi TP member, all Gram Panchayath members, PDO Shri Pandurang  and others were  participated in the function.

YOUTH RED CROSS SOCIETY

            The Indian Red Cross society is a voluntary humanitarian organization to protect human life and health based in India.  It is part of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and so shares the fundamental principles of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.  The Society’s mission is to provide relief in times of disasters/emergencies and promoting health and care of vulnerable people and communities.

Activities

1.     On 2nd October we celebrated the Gandhi Jayanti in the college, and also visited the Physically Challenged blind school at Gandhi Nagar, we distributed the Bread Fruits, Biscuits to the students, and also celebration the Gandhi Jayanti in the school with the students. 

2.     We celebrated Vanamohastava programme in  Karnatak University campus and planted 120 plants in the college and Karnatak University On 5th August 2016. We celebrated the same in the college garden by planting 10 plants.

3.     On 25th January 2017 Celebrated of National Voters Day in the college.  Prof. Daniel Praveen Kumar spoke on the occasion. He also spoke on voting power, it is in the hands of all people including the students.  Dr. S. B. Nyamati gave Oath to all NSS volunteers on the occasion.

6.     One day rally was organized in the Tale Morab Villages of Navalgund Taluk towards the creation of awareness among the people on drinking water, water resources, health, sanitation, and environment etc., 38 the volunteers of our college participated in the awareness rally.   In the rally we motivated the people to save the preserve the water resources and also asked them to maintain the cleanness in the villages on 29th January 2017.

7.     On 19th February 2017 again we conducted the rally in Mugad villages of Dharwad Taluk. Taluk towards the creation of awareness among the people on drinking water, water resources, health, sanitation, environment etc., 38 the volunteers of our college participated in the awareness rally.   In the rally we motivated the people to save the preserve the water resources and also asked them to maintained the cleanness in the villages.

8.     The Students of our college participated the inaugural function of state Olympic organized in R.N. Shetty Stadium on 3rd February 2017.

       Converting of Digital Classroom.

       Installation of Solar Project for lighting and computers etc.,

       Development of Garden

       Development of greenery in the campus.

3.     Academic

       Availability of Power point lectures in the college website for the students.

       More points of projection for ICT classes.

       Stream lining the online examination for bridge course

       Regularization of online formative assessments and preparing question banks accordingly

CONCLUSION

 I express my deep sense of gratitude to all who in their own way have helped in raising the institution where it stands today.
